The Bed Step – Two Steps is designed to help Patients get into and out of bed. This is very useful when the bed will not go down low enough. This may be due to the design of the bed. Or possibly an overlay pressure mattress has been fitted to the bed, making it higher.
By using the Steps, a Patient will be able to get in and out of bed more easily, by allowing their bottom to go nearer to the middle of the bed. The Steps can also be used for getting on or off ambulance trolleys.
The Steps have wipeable medical grade, heat sealed vinyl covers, with a handy carry loop on one corner. They have Non-Slip Material on the bottom to help prevent them from moving.
There are two heights are available:
- One Step – A 10cm / 4″ block
- Two Steps (this product) – A two level 10cm / 4″ and 20cm / 8″ block
The decision to use the One or Two Step will depend on the height of the bed, so long as the Patient’s bottom will be safely near the middle of the bed.
To Use
The Bed Steps are placed alongside the bed, so that when the Patient is standing facing the head of the bed, they can step onto the first Step possibly having a hand on the mattress to steady themselves. Ensure their heel is in front of the marked line. The Steps are large enough to have two feet on them.
The Patient can shuffle forward and mount the second step, then they can do a quarter turn so their bottom will be positioned to sit on the side of the bed.
Also available: Rehab Step – A large block for walking rehabilitation.
